Before you reach out, here’s what to know.

Getting published with Lavender Books starts with a simple first step — telling us about you and your book. You don’t need a polished manuscript yet to begin the conversation, but here’s what will help.

Before you start your author journey, it helps to have:

  • A working title for your book
  • A clear sense of what your book is about and the message you want it to carry
  • An idea of what stage your manuscript is currently in (just an idea, a first draft, a polished draft, or previously published)

What we’re looking for: We’re open to publishing almost any genre — poetry, personal essays, fiction, non-fiction, and more. As a self-publishing partner, we believe every author has the right to bring their story into the world. That said, we do evaluate every manuscript closely for storyline and content quality, to make sure your book is truly ready for readers.

How the process works, briefly:

  1. You share a little about yourself and your book with us.
  2. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll ask to read your full manuscript.
  3. We’ll set up a conversation to talk through your vision.
  4. If we move forward together, we’ll walk you through a proposal, an agreement, and the full publishing process — from editing to launch.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • We are a small team, so please allow us time to review and respond at each stage — typically a few business days.
  • Being invited to the next stage does not guarantee publication; every step is a mutual conversation.
  • Please reach out to us through our official form so we can properly track and respond to your journey — not through Messenger or DMs.
